From major organisational changes, to building a thriving workplace, to supporting employees from onboarding to retirement – AccessEAP can provide support every step of the journey for every aspect of you business.

Critical Incident Response

When you report an incident to AccessEAP, a designated member from our Clinical Response Team collaborates with you to understand the incident, assess its impact on employees, and facilitate a response aligned with best practice. A suitable clinician is then allocated to provide support, onsite or through telehealth, as required.

We’re committed to responding to your request 24/7, including public holidays. This service is delivered at your premises or it can be provided virtually.

How it Works

We prioritise trauma-informed, individual psychological first aid, that may involve any or all of the following:

  • The session will centre on providing psychological first aid, with the primary goal of mitigating emotional distress stemming from the incident and initiating the recovery process.
  • The clinician’s role will involve recognising that this event holds exceptional significance, emphasising the importance of validating the reactions of the involved employees.
  • The clinician will frame employees’ responses to the incident as reasonable, given the extraordinary circumstances, and underscore that the abnormality lies in the event itself, not in the reactions.
  • The session will aim to facilitate social support and the employee’s support network wherever appropriate.
  • The clinician will focus on employee self-care practices and provide employees with immediate and short-term coping strategies.

Critical Incident Follow-Up:

As per AccessEAP’s Critical Incident Policy, employees will receive follow-up support the next day, one week, and one month following the support delivery. A critical incident report will be produced once all follow-up has been completed. This process typically takes 4–6 weeks. Why is a response important?

Timely support after a traumatic incident is crucial for employee recovery. Early intervention helps reduce the psychosocial risk of trauma-related mental health issues.
