Reflective Practice Sessions (Supervision)
Our reflective practice sessions provide a safe, structured space for staff to reflect on their work, strengthen resilience, and support wellbeing.
It is easy to become so busy, caught up in the “doing” of things, that we often forget to reflect on why we do them, how we do them, and how it makes us feel. This is where reflective supervision can prove powerful for individuals or small teams.
Reflective practice sessions are a way for staff to talk about their work, their thoughts, and their feelings about what they do. These sessions focus on:
- Why and how we do things: Not just what we did, but understanding the deeper reasons behind our actions.
- Our feelings: How our own emotions, and the emotions of the people we help, affect our work.
- Building relationships: How important good relationships are in our work and in talking with our clients and colleagues.
Supervision explained
Supervision provides structured support and guidance to employees whose roles involve emotional labour. It focuses on developing skills like emotional intelligence, communication, and ethical decision-making, while also addressing stress management and self-care. Supervisors act like consultants and mentors, offering case consultation, promoting reflective practice, and fostering professional growth. This support helps employees navigate the emotional demands of their work, build resilience, and enhance their overall well-being.
How it Works
The referring leader/manager works with a clinician to arrange the most appropriate supervision support for their team and/or team members. Topics can be as diverse as you like, and the supervisor may or may not be involved in helping to decide the topics, depending on needs
