Workplace bullying is verbal, physical, social, or psychological abuse by anyone in the workplace, affecting people in any role or industry. It can include hurtful remarks, exclusion, intimidation, unreasonable tasks, withholding information, physical aggression, or humiliating initiations.

Bullying can harm confidence, performance, and wellbeing, leading to stress, anxiety, depression, and long-term mental and physical health impacts—even for those who witness it. Employers are legally required to prevent and address bullying through clear policies, awareness, and confidential complaint processes.

Conflict at work is common and can arise from differences in values, expectations, communication styles, personalities, or feelings of exclusion. When managed respectfully, conflict can lead to stronger relationships and creative solutions. However, if it involves intimidation, harassment, or discrimination, it becomes a serious problem that may require outside help.

Mindfulness at work means being fully present, aware of your thoughts, surroundings, and interactions, rather than operating on autopilot. Practising mindfulness can improve wellbeing, focus, and decision-making.

Simple strategies include focusing on one task at a time, being fully present in conversations, walking with awareness, eating lunch mindfully, and starting or ending the day with deep breathing. Even small changes can create a calmer, more productive workday.
