Diversity and Inclusion
Diversity Statement
At AccessEAP We believe that our commitment to cultural awareness, inclusion and diversity is reflected in our breadth of programs and services, and the quality of care our customers and their people receive. Since opening our doors in 1989, we’ve developed and refined our best practices, becoming experts in creating positive and supportive workplaces.
AccessEAP offers confidential support in a sensitive, comfortable and culturally affirming way. Dedicated lines are available for LGBTQIA+ and Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander peoples. We also offer interpretation services in sight hearing and Auslan. While continuing to deliver our current mental health and wellbeing support, we strive to improve and close the wellbeing-gap for the more vulnerable members of the Australian population.
Acknowledgement of Country
We acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we live, work, and play and pay our respects to Elders past, present, and future. We honour the deep connection First Peoples have to Country and Spirituality and value their ongoing contribution to caring for our lands, waterways, skies, and community. We recognise the continued mental health and wellbeing care gap that exists between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and the rest of the Australian population and acknowledge the incredible resilience of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
Website Accessibility Guidelines
We’re committed to making our website accessible to everyone, including individuals with disabilities. Our new website has been designed and developed following international web accessibility standards, ensuring ease of use for all visitors.
Web Accessibility Standards
Our website adheres to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, developed by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).
These standards outline how websites should be designed to accommodate a wide range of users, including those with visual, auditory, cognitive, and mobility impairments. Key principles include:
Perceivable – Content is easy to see and hear
Operable – All functions can be accessed with a keyboard or assistive technology
Understandable – Content is clear and user-friendly
Robust – Compatible with various assistive technologies
Screen Reader Optimisation
For visitors with visual impairments, colour blindness, and/or using screen readers or other assistive technologies, we’ve implemented key optimisations:
- HTML Markup & ARIA Landmarks – Ensures content is read logically and can be navigated seamlessly with screen readers like NVDA, JAWS, and VoiceOver.
- Alternative Text for Images – Alt text is provided for all essential images to ensure users understand their content and context.
- Keyboard Navigation Compatibility – All interactive elements, including menus, forms, and buttons, are accessible using only a keyboard (tab navigation).
- Clear and Concise Headings – Proper H1-H6 structure makes it easy for screen readers to interpret and navigate pages.
- Descriptive Links and Buttons – Links include meaningful text (e.g., “Download the Stress Toolkit” instead of “Click Here”) to aid comprehension.
- Sufficient Colour Contrast – Text and background colours meet WCAG AA and AAA contrast ratio requirements for readability.
We’re continually working to improve website accessibility. If you encounter any barriers or need assistance, please reach out to us on 1800 818 728 or by emailing info@accesseap.com.au.
